چکیده

where p(t) is a (typically real valued) pulse shape, and the ck are QAM symbols drawn from a finite collection of complex numbers called a constellation based on input bits to be communicated over the channel. Some example QAM constellations include 4-QAM (a.k.a QPSK){±1± j}, 16-QAM {±a± jb} with a, b ∈ {1, 3}, 64-QAM {±a + jb} with a, b ∈ {1, 3, 5, 7}, and 256-QAM {±a ± jb} with a, b ∈ {1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15}. These constellations are often also scaled to have unit power average power, e.g. for QPSK this scaling is {± 1 √ 2 ± 1 √ 2 }. The bits are mapped to constellation elements through one of a number of techniques, including Gray coding, Trellis coded modulation, and bit-interleaved coded modulation. Gray coding is the simplest, we will explain the other two when we explain forward error correction. For instance, under Gray coding bits are mapped to QPSK symbols through (0, 0) 7→ 1 √ 2 +j 1 √ 2 , (0, 1) 7→ 1 √ 2 − j 1 √ 2 , (1, 0) 7→ − 1 √ 2 + j 1 √ 2 , and (1, 1) 7→ − 1 √ 2 − j 1 √ 2 .

Synchronous Demodulation of Coherent 16-QAM with Feedforward Carrier Recovery

Coherent optical transmission allows for improved bandwidth utilization and impairment compensation of existing optical fiber links and is a key for future communication systems with transmission rates of 112 Gb/s and above. In recent years quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) was the preferred modulation format because of its robustness on long-haul links [1]–[3]. However, for metropolitan are...

Monobit Digital Receivers for QPSK: Design, Analysis and Performance

Future communication system requires large bandwidth to achieve high data rate up to multigigabit/sec, which makes analog-to-digital (ADC) become a key bottleneck for the implementation of digital receivers due to its high complexity and large power consumption. Therefore, monobit receivers for BPSK have been proposed to address this problem. In this work, QPSK modulation is considered for high...

Neural detection of QAM signal with strongly nonlinear receiver

Neural receiver structures have been developed for adaptive discrete-signal detection in telecommunication applications. Neural networks combined with conventional equalizers improve the performance especially in compensating for nonlinear distortions. These distortions may result, for instance, from nonlinear ampliication implemented for reducing the power consumption. In this paper, the behav...
